Tzu Chi Committee
The Needle Thread that Connects the Relationship
The period of 1998-2002 was a crucial moment. In those years, financial turmoil hit Asia and Jakarta suffered from a riot. However in 1998, Eka Tjipta Widjaja had joined Tzu Chi and his son, Franky O. Widjaja, had become a disciple of Master Cheng Yen. In 2002, a severe flood hit Jakarta, during this time, Eka Tjipta Widjaja encouraged Sugianto Kusuma and other entrepreneurs to join Tzu Chi.
Doing her job as a secretary, Jia Wen Yu knew a lot of high-rank business leaders, and was able to establish good relationships with them. Under her needle threads, together they worked hand in hand to contribute to the society. Therefore, during the most turbulent time in Indonesia, Tzu Chi was able to grow and established more branches, opening opportunities to expand the four main missions in Tzu Chi Indonesia until present.
Transcending religion and race
Wherever you step on a ground, uphold the sky (When in Rome, do as the Romans do). As Tzu Chi Indonesia cultivates the land of blessings in Indonesia, the footprints of Tzu Chi keeps on reaching every corner of the country.
